Problem Analysis

Leptospira can be transmitted from animals to animals or from animals to humans.Such transmission may be caused by contact of the injured skin or mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, nose, genitals) with water, moist soil or vegetation contaminated with the bacteria. The infection can also be produced by direct contact with urine, blood, tissues, or organs of infected animals.
Animals that contract the bacteria will be carriers for the rest of their lives.Rats are the main carriers and transmitters of the bacteria, but they do not suffer from Leptospirosis.
Leptospira survives for prolonged periods in humid places with a pH close to the neutral value, so ditches and wet soils are the ideal environment for it.
Our city does not have an adequate drainage system. Drainage is done by ditches, which are in a deplorable state, becoming an ideal place for the presence of bacteria. In addition, due to the existence of several dumps, in these ditches live a very high number of rats.
Leptospirosis is a serious disease. Its symptoms may be high fever, headache, severe muscle pains (especially in the extremities), red eyes and jaundice. If not treated properly and early, it can cause kidney failure, liver failure, respiratory failure and even death.
